Are you tired of being tired? Sleeping too much? Struggling to get enough sleep? Our Sleep Medicine Service can help.
We provide comprehensive consultation, evaluation and evidence-based management of all issues regarding sleep for adults and children at our sleep center.
We understand how important sleep is for both good physical and mental health. A 2019 study led by Menninger researchers found over 90% of our inpatients have at least mild sleep disturbances, and that lack of sleep improvement correlates with suicidal thoughts, worsened clinical outcomes, higher anxiety, disability and decreased well-being.
While we evaluate and treat common sleep issues like sleep apnea, insomnia and restless legs syndrome, our sleep specialists also understand how sleep affects behavior and mood.
Inadequate sleep can cause depressed mood, irritability, attention difficulties, low energy and fatigue during the day, and a lower tolerance of stressful situations. We recognize and target the impact that sleep has on quality of life.
Our sleep specialists offer evaluation and treatment for the following sleep disorders:
Our in-lab sleep studies are conducted overnight at Menninger's sleep clinic by an experienced technologist. You will have your own private room, restroom and television. You can even adjust the firmness of your mattress so that you can be as comfortable as possible.
For some patients, a study may be completed at home.
Results are discussed in person or virtually with Myrtle Jeroudi, MD, generally within one week of the study. They are also provided to your referring specialist with your permission.
After completing your sleep study, you may be referred to Mary Rose, PsyD, DBSM, CBSM, director of the Sleep Medicine Service, who is a clinical psychologist board certified in behavioral sleep medicine. Dr. Rose provides behavioral treatment for sleep disorders.
