Peers are a significant part of an adolescent's life, which is one reason why participating in an outpatient therapy group for adolescents might be helpful to your teenager.
Adolescent Group Therapy
In this group for adolescents ages 13-17, participants examine issues that affect relationships with family, friends, and/or school achievement: family issues, impulsivity, procrastination, substance use/addictive behaviors, depression, shyness/social anxiety, self-esteem, self-worth, social skills, Internet use, communications skills and more.
This group meets Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 pm.
ACTive Art Group
This group focuses on using expressive art activities, such as painting, mixed media, and collage, to understand the core concepts of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness.
By exploring these skills, participants will learn how to engage more fully in the present moment and relate differently to painful thoughts and feelings. This group is beneficial for adolescents who are interested in art or creative expression, and are struggling with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, or adjustment/transitions to life stressors.
This group, which is open to adolescents ages 13-17, meets Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 pm.
