Dalanna Burris, LPC, LCDC, CSAT, has more than 15 years of professional experience and currently serves as a behavior addictions specialist for both inpatient and outpatient programs. She has special expertise in problematic sexual behavior, gambling disorder, and gaming addiction. She is EMDR certified and also has advanced skills in motivational interviewing and cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy.

 

Dalanna is a member of the National Association for Addiction Professionals, the Texas Association for Addiction Professionals, and the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health. She is an advocate for addiction treatment and recovery and gives presentations on addiction and recovery topics at the national, state, and local levels. Dalanna is a frequent blogger on Mind Matters from Menninger, our Psychology Today blog. Blog posts include Behavioral Addiction: What We Know and What We Don't, How Much Is Too Much? After earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from New Mexico State University, she earned a master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in Addictions Counseling from Grand Canyon University.

 

Dalanna says that she is proud to work at Menninger where she is surrounded by professionals who foster the culture of a team approach to comprehensively assessing, compassionately stabilizing and empathically treating patients.
