Menninger invites you to join The Menninger Clinic Foundation in spreading mental health awareness and raising critical funds for The Clinic’s programs, this Giving Tuesday – November 30.
Held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that empowers individuals and communities to give back to causes and organizations they believe in. The support of our generous community of donors means more than ever this holiday season, when so many are struggling with the mental health impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
More than four in 10 adults (43%) reported that the pandemic has had a serious impact on their mental health, according to a public opinion poll conducted by the American Psychiatric Association in May. And in October, the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and Children’s Hospital Association declared a national emergency in children’s mental health, to call attention to the COVID-19 pandemic’s escalating mental health toll.
“The pandemic will have a lasting impact on the mental health of Americans,” says Stephanie Cunningham, MBA, vice president of Business Development and Philanthropy. “Thanks to our donors, we are better equipped to care for the growing numbers of people with pandemic-related anxiety, depression and trauma.”
While #GivingTuesday only comes once a year, your support is appreciated year-round. Donations of every size to The Menninger Clinic Foundation allow us to train emerging mental health professionals, advance groundbreaking research and offer outreach services to underserved youth and adults.
People can also show their support for Menninger by making a donation of any size or liking and following our #GivingTuesday posts on social media. No matter how you choose to participate in #GivingTuesday, your support will help create a brighter, more hopeful world for mental health.
