Mark your calendar for The Menninger Clinic’s Annual Signature Luncheon Thursday, May 9, at the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria. We look forward to once again bringing together the community to fight stigma and increase mental health awareness while raising essential funds for The Menninger Clinic Foundation.
This year’s luncheon is chaired by Menninger advocates Tejuana Edmond and Jennifer Hanson and honors the YMCA of Greater Houston.
The event highlights adolescent mental health, which has become a frequently discussed topic in homes, schools and places of worship nationwide. Mental health challenges are surging among America’s youngest generations, prompting the U.S. Surgeon General to issue a special public health advisory and call for action around youth mental health. When young people face mental illness, it can affect school performance, decision-making and overall well-being, possibly leading to lasting consequences. Donors' support of the luncheon will help Menninger change the narrative around adolescent mental health. By providing coping skills and fostering a foundation free of stigma, The Clinic empowers young people to develop into healthy, productive adults.
Menninger is excited to welcome Emmy award-winning actor Joe Pantoliano, who will serve as the luncheon’s Signature Speaker. While Pantoliano is known for his roles in “The Sopranos,” “The Matrix,” “Memento” and many more, it is his mental health activism that sets him apart. After years of struggling with addiction, Joe was diagnosed with clinical depression in 2008. Since his diagnosis, he has set out to change the way people think and talk about mental health through his documentary film and nonprofit organization called “No Kidding? Me Too!”
