Since 2017, suicide has been the second leading cause of death in 10- to 24-year-olds. Additionally, substance use is a major issue and a significant risk factor for suicide in adolescents. In this webinar, Dr. Barnes will discuss the relationship between suicide and co-occurring substance use disorders in adolescents and identify solutions to address these health crises.
She will identify key gaps in clinical research, health care access, and prevention programs focused on suicide prevention in adolescents with co-occurring substance use disorders. The material highlights the importance of increased awareness regarding these public health crises with a goal to improve health outcomes in this demographic.
