The Menninger Clinic and Caron Treatment Centers are jointly presenting Suicide Prevention Among Older Adults Experiencing Co-Occurring Substance Use Disorders November 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central Time. Continuing education credits will be available.
Substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health diagnoses are growing in the older adult population and are often misunderstood, overlooked, and misdiagnosed. Mental healthcare professionals would benefit from additional training around proper screening and referrals for this population. Evidence-based treatment for older adults improves quality of life, relationships, and health outcomes.
The webinar will explore the scope of substance use and co-occurring disorders, including suicide, in the older adult population. Webinar participants will learn about the benefits of an integrated approach to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The presenters will also describe and model an effective treatment approach to multidisciplinary/individualized care to improve treatment planning and outcomes.
