While research has led to new treatment advances for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) over the last few decades, there is still much more to be discovered about the disorder.

 

In a recent blog post on PsychologyToday.com, Menninger researchers explore recent advances in research that have shed "...light on the hidden biological mechanisms underlying the symptoms we observe." These biological mechanisms include a "...heightened state of high heart rate, low heart rate variability and low respiratory sinus arrhythmia," all of which can impact behavior.
