Kelly Truong, MD

Kelly Truong, MD, is a staff psychiatrist at The Menninger Clinic and an assistant professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. She is board certified in addiction psychiatry.

 

Dr. Truong also has special expertise in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and her research interests include clinical addiction psychopharmacology.

 

She is a member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, American Psychoanalytic Association and the Houston Psychoanalytic Society.

 

Dr. Truong has given professional presentations on topics like patient autonomy and Texas mental health law, treatment consent in the emergency setting and opioid use disorder.

 

She has contributed to book chapters in Fundamentals of HIV Medicine, Complexities of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders: Advances in Conceptualization and Treatment, Applications of the Unified Protocols for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Children and Adolescents and Foundations in Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences.

 

After earning her undergraduate degree in Neurobiology from the University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Dr. Truong completed a psychiatry residency and a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine.

 

In her free time, she enjoys dance, acrobatics, climbing trees and reading fantasy fiction — preferably, all at once.
