Thröstur Björgvinsson, PhD

Thröstur Björgvinsson, PhD, directs the adolescent and adult treatment programs and clinical staff and also serves as an associate professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Björgvinsson developed and launched these comprehensive treatment programs at Menninger, which provide treatments integrating research validation to patients with severe obsessive-compulsive disorder and other anxiety disorders.
Dr. Björgvinsson’s research is currently focused on the phenomenology and treatment of OCD and other anxiety disorders. In particular, Dr. Björgvinsson and the research team are evaluating the characteristics of treatment-refractory OCD, the psychological correlates of treatment outcome, patient symptom trajectories using process data and the effectiveness of an inpatient specialty hospital program. He presents at national and international conferences and has published numerous research articles and book chapters on these topics.
In addition, he provides clinical teaching and supervision of psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, residents and practicum students.
Dr. Björgvinsson serves on the Scientific Board for the Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation. He received his bachelor of arts degree from the
University
of
Iceland
and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Queen’s University,
Kingston
,
Ontario
,
Canada
. His advanced training includes completion of a cognitive behavior therapy internship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School and a behavior therapy fellowship at the OCD Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
Joyce Davidson, MD

Joyce Davidson, MD, provides the OCD Treatment Program with expertise in psychopharmacology and treatment of dual disorders. Her clinical specialties include cognitive therapy and new psychopharmacological treatments.
Dr. Davidson is board certified in adult psychiatry and board eligible in child psychiatry. As an assistant professor, she also teaches in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Baylor College of Medicine.
In addition, she has published in the Bulletin of the Menninger Clinic, Kansas Medicine, the American Journal of Psychiatry, the Journal of the
American
Academy
of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, The Menninger Letter and the New England Journal of Medicine.
She received a combined bachelor’s and medical degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City and completed her residencies in general and child psychiatry at the
Karl
Menninger
School
of Psychiatry & Mental Health Sciences. Dr. Davidson has completed cognitive therapy training through the
Kansas City
Center
for Cognitive Therapy.
